Drawn on Black Paper
Shadow work, akin to the alchemical process of transmuting base metals like lead into gold. The humble pencil creating a transformative and visceral viewing experience (that is a bugger to photograph). From a distance the drawings look blank, like shadows hanging from the wall. On approach, the graphite catches the light and reveals the drawing. Walking past and the image slips away, according to the tilt of your perspective to the page. Kindred to the enveloping darkness behind your eyes when you drift to sleep into your dreams and nightmares.
